Ms. Maria Vello‐CISSP, CEO and President of the NCFTA, with more than 25 years of experience in the design, integration, and implementation of global corporate systems, security, and networks, Ms Vello was the Chief Executive Officer and President of SCS, Inc.  She was a charter member of AT&T’s newly formed subsidiary, American Bell (AT&T Information Systems, Inc.).  During her career with AT&T and Lucent Technologies, Ms. Vello developed expertise in all areas of data/voice communications, including, frame relay, dedicated services, Wide Area Networks (WAN), wireless, local area networks, video, e‐Commerce, virtual private networks, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), voice telephones/Private Branch Exchange systems design, engineering and implementation, and traffic engineering.  She held positions of National Account Manager, Sales Manager, and Marketing Manager servicing global accounts.  In that capacity she was recognized for her achievements with numerous awards including AT&T’s Leaders Council, one of the most prestigious awards at AT&T Marketing.  

Maria has been responsible for integrating security best practices and raising awareness levels at every level in the organizations she has worked.  She served as the Global Manager, Data and Voice Communications for a Fortune 250 company, Chief Technology Officer for a web design/integration firm and Director, Voice and Data Network Engineering at Broadstreet Communications a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC).  She was responsible for engineering, building and implementing central offices to deliver voice and data services to business clients.  Part of this technology delivery included voice over DSL for small and medium size clients. Ms. Vello created the vision and strategy for integrating leading edge technologies across mission critical applications in worldwide networks, security best practices, policies and procedures.  

Maria has gained extensive experience in the areas of Information Technology, cyber and physical security, risk management, network design/implementation, systems integration, project management, traffic engineering, customer satisfaction, leadership, and overall telecommunications. She developed her experience, breadth and depth through career training, certifications, personal growth, first hand real life experience and the execution of complex designs, security assessments and audits, and application development.  She oversaw the design, engineering, testing, provisioning and deployment of large complex corporate global networks and was responsible for developing and providing standards, policies and procedures for security, encryption, Internet connectivity, voice mail, Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems, video and all Wide Area Network (WAN) hardware, software and operations  

Maria received her B.A. from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Attended, MIT’s Data Networking School.  She also attended executive programs at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), The Wharton School of Business ‐The University of Pennsylvania.  Maria gained her security certification as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).  She attended numerous Executive leadership and management training throughout her career. Maria attended Carnegie Mellon‐Software Engineering Institute’s training and certification in the delivery, facilitation, consulting and training of the Carnegie Mellon University, Software Engineering Institute’s OCTAVE methodology and her company was the first transition partner for the OCTAVE Methodology.  Maria also has been certified in the RAM‐W physical security certification for the water industry, which is one of our nation’s critical infrastructures.  

Prior to her role at Cisco as the Regional Manager for Security and Mobility, where her team was number one in the country several years, Maria spent 5 years growing a profitable business and working with the SCS team in conducting security and vulnerability assessments and audits, consulting in various aspects of telecommunications, network design and integration and raising security awareness of various clients and end users at all levels within their organizations.  Maria and her team were instrumental in educating critical infrastructure companies in regards to cyber threats against Industrial Control System or SCADA  

Maria currently serves as the CEO and President at the National Cyber Forensics Training Alliance (NCFTA) in Pittsburgh, PA.  The NCFTA, a 501.c.3, the focus of the NCFTA is to provide a neutral collaborative venue where global partners from industry, law enforcement, government, and academia come together, leveraging cross‐sector resources and threat intelligence to more effectively analyze, correlate and associate critical real‐time intelligence against emerging cyber threats.  The actionable intelligence developed is used to mitigate and ultimately neutralize persistent global cyber threats, in an effort to protect intellectual property, assets, countries and citizens.  Maria served on the Board of Directors of the NCFTA from 2002 ‐ 20012 and as the Board Secretary for four years.
